                    Dancing with the Wind©

Kindred Spirits, you and I, cut from the selfsame cloth.
Life-long friends, we ran and played as children; I, carefree
as you, the Wind. It was you who taught me how to dance.
Now we have to schedule time to walk together.

In the “busy-ness” of life, we share but moments
here and there in our daily, dizzying rounds.
We bluster and blow; we're sometimes calm and peaceful,
but always in motion lest we stagnate and die.

Like costumed partners at the Cosmic Ball, we dance,
you, matter dressed up as Spirit, and I, Spirit
masquerading as matter. What latest rumor
shall we share as we glide around the floor?

Have you heard that men have forgotten why they dance?
The same rumor around the world, you say?
How reliable is your source? Have you verified?
Perhaps, then, it is true, but ... I'm not so sure.

Perhaps they have been too long at the Ball, dizzy with
the dance of life or drunk on the wine of attachment.
Perhaps they are simply out of step, tripping on their
own shoelaces, struggling to find the rhythm once again.

Perhaps they are lost in the dreams of their own desires
and forgotten they are the dream of the Dreamer.
Perhaps ... Perhaps ... What wishful longing
those words bring to the hearts and minds of men!

But you, the Wind, can teach them how to dance! You
and I can show the steps, count the rhythm, tap the beat!
The Cosmic Ball will not end until all have danced their
own dance, their souls bedecked in beauty and grace.

Come, dance with me, old friend! The night is young
and the strains of life’s music are sweet and clear.
We, too, must step to the Rhythm of the Cosmic Beat!
We, too, must dance to the song of our hearts’ True Desire!

“Wisdom is where you find it. It doesn’t matter who said it or where it was written, only whether it helps you to grow.”
