“From the Ancient Wisdoms to Quantum Physics,
It's All About the Energy!”

It is summer now, the hottest day of the year so far, and
I am pruning the rhododendron in front of my house.
Its blossoms are dead, hanging, brown and faded,
their bright blush of spring’s lush hues long gone.

The worn-out blossoms are now but an eyesore,
only a dull reminder of their long-past colorful glory.

In its season each blossom sprang forth
anew from this plant, from its soul—
hundreds of blossoms, like past lives expressing
themselves in the current season, the current life.

Some of those blossoms withered before their prime, others
manifested as different aspects of their common soul.

Some blossoms were large, others small,
some slightly misshapen, others nearly perfectly formed.
Some were bolder in color, others more delicately shaded,
each one an individual expression of its soul, the sum of them all.

I prune the dead blossoms for the health of the plant, each
one now only a breeding ground for disease and infestation.

I must prune carefully, mindfully, as next season’s growth already
bursts forth as new buds from the base of each spent blossom.
Funny how the future springs from the past; it will all depend
on what that past was and whether it continues to be.

Judicious pruning removes the dead past from the plant's soul
so it continues afresh, free of old entanglements and harmful debris.

Finished, I stop to admire the beautiful green foliage of this mature soul,
pruned of dead energy, ready to take the next step forward in its growth
and evolution, knowing that next summer, I will face the task of pruning
once again the old, dead energy of spent blossoms, refreshing it anew.

Funny how we are so like this beautiful rhododendron, each of us
expressing in our current life the old energies of our past lives.

Some of those lives were large, others small;
some grossly misshapen, others more perfectly formed.
Some were bolder in color, others more delicately shaded, each one
an individual expression of our eternal soul, the sum of them all.

In some lives we withered before our prime, unable to grow any further.
In others we created improved aspects of our soul, our Higher Self.

We must prune carefully, mindfully, as our next life is already taking
shape with each decision we make, day-by-day, moment-by-moment.
Funny how our future springs from our past; it will all depend
on what that past was and whether we allow it to continue to be.

NOW is the time to prune past-life energy for the health of our soul,
each flaw removed, one less breeding ground for blockage and dis-ease.

Pruning judiciously removes past attachments from our soul memory,
so we may continue afresh, free of old entanglements and toxic debris.
When finished, we will stand a beautiful, fully mature soul, pruned free
of old, stagnant energy, ready to step forward in growth and evolution.

Funny how we are so like this beautiful rhododendron, each of us
expressing in our current life the old energies of our past lives.
